PC project lead David Shaw on sharing DNA with Blizzard.

Destiny 2 is launching in mere months, with the PS4 and Xbox One versions landing on September 6, and the PC version of the online shooter set to follow afterwards on October 24.

During E3 we caught up with PC project lead David Shaw, who gave us a little insight into the PC version, explaining that the studio's goal is to create an experience that lives up to the expectations of players.

"The PC gamer clearly has a view of what the game should be, and we're trying to... we really want to hit the ground running, we wanna have that on day one; the PC gamer says: 'OK, you get me, Bungie.'"

"We do, we understand, we get it, we are PC gamers, among other things, and so the goal was always to figure out what is the set of things that's that core fundamental amazing PC experience, and bring that to Destiny 2 on day one. "

One decision that affects all future PC players was the choice to skip Steam and launch the game via Blizzard's launcher, battle.net. We asked for the reason behind this decision:

"Make no mistake, we love Steam," Shaw explained, "it's a great platform, we play lots of games ourselves on Steam. With the choice to launch on battle.net, we look at Blizzard and we believe we share some similar DNA with them. The quality of games that they put out, the experiences, they're just amazing. There's a ton of us that are fans, and we had the opportunity to talk with them about the proposal and things worked out really well, and we all decided it was a good opportunity, and we're super, super excited be bringing Destiny 2 to PC via battle.net on October 24."
