Ubisoft offers extended look at Assassin's Creed Origins

Travel back to Ancient Egypt and check out Ubi's latest AC title.

Assassin's Creed Origins is set to take the series to the golden sands of Egypt, back when the Assassin's Brotherhood was in its infancy. Yesterday we received the official reveal during Microsoft's E3 showcase, and today developer Ubisoft treated us to a second trailer and thirty minutes of hands-on action.

The new trailer showcased many of the stunning locales explorable within the game, which benefited from the extra horsepower of the newly revealed Xbox One X. Seen in the trailer were sprawling desert plains richly populated with hippos, camels and crocodiles. A little gameplay was teased, but this side of the game was later explored during an aftershow extended look.

The hands-on session (which you can watch in full here - 2:10:18) delved deeper into the newly introduced RPG mechanics and showed how weapons are now characterised by rarity and their secondary effect. They also detailed the new skills tree which is divided into the categories of Warrior, Hunter, and Seer. The new hitbox system was also discussed and it factors in elements such as the player's positioning, weapon speed and range to determine whether they've hit an enemy.

Other features detailed included the ability to traverse the world on camels, chariots, boats and horses and being able to use an eagle to tag and determine the level of nearby foes.

Assassin's Creed Origins is set to be released on October 27th and you can watch the two new trailers below:
