Destiny 2 will be the only third-party title on Battle.net

Blizzard clarifies that Bungie's shooter will be the exception, not the rule.

Recently Bungie blew the lid off of Destiny 2, revealing a bunch of details and tons of gameplay. Among them was the small but notable fact that surprised a lot of eager fans waiting for the PC release; the game will actually launch on Battle.net instead of Steam.

This has caused quite a stir within the community, and many have asked whether this is going to be a trend moving forward. Now, Activision can confirm that Destiny 2 is the exception, not the rule. In a new statement posted on their website, Blizzard wrote that there are no plans to bring third-party games to their service, although they are evaluating whether it's something that we might see for future Activision:

"Our focus in terms of supporting non-Blizzard games is solely around Destiny 2. Aside from potentially evaluating needs or opportunities for future Activision games, we don't have any short or long-term plans to support third-party games with Battle.net. It's important to us to maintain our quality standards for any experience or service we're putting in front of our players, which represents a big investment of time and effort on our part, so this is not something we're jumping into lightly."
