Blackguards: Definitive Edition hits PS4 and Xbox One

Kalypso Media brings Daedalic's strategy-RPG to consoles this summer.

Blackguards was released for PC two years ago as the first RPG developed and published by the point-and-click experts from Daedalic Entertainment. The game offered a combination of turn-based tactical combat, dark storytelling and fantasy setting. When we played it back in 2014 we found a deep character customisation system, comprehensive battle mechanics and a lasting adventure, even though text and tutorials were heavy to grasp and presentation could've used some polish. Now the game is getting a console launch as its Definitive Edition, and it will be available this summer for PS4 and Xbox One.

Additionally, the newest edition will include the "Untold Legends" DLC with plenty of expanded content. Now fans of the genre may be wondering why Kalypso isn't releasing the much better, more polished and evolved sequel Blackguards 2, as, according to our review "for every problem with the first offering, the team found an elegant new solution". Perhaps Blackguards 2 is also getting a Definitive Edition on console at some point.
