Our Spanish Gamereactor branch has picked up an interesting piece of intel about Splatoon. Apparently a variety of retailers in Spain have jumped the gun and started selling Nintendo's game already, some of them started as early as yesterday. Splatoon's official release date is this Friday, May 29. It's not uncommon that games ordered online reach gamers prior to launch, but in this case it's being sold over the counter.
So if you happen to be in Spain right now, or just want some leverage to use on your local game store (we're not sure that will work, though), you could get your Splatoon on sooner than you thought.
