GRTV: Trion on Defiance

Gillen talks to the level designer.
Bengt Lemne 10 October 2012

Gillen McAllister, may have suffered more deaths in 15 minutes with Defiance than in the previous year of gaming, but that didn't prevent him from inquiring further about the symbiosis at work with the TV show / MMO shooter Trion Worlds are cooking up.

Level designer, Tony Morton, had plenty to say about the premise of the upcoming online game. We asked whether there was any temptation to go extra crazy when designing the game in order to see how it would be pulled off in the live action TV series:

"There's been a lot of agreement that we won't go too crazy. But the guys at SyFy they've been absolutely outstanding. And they're always willing to listen to our crazy ideas and we're always willing to listen to their crazy ideas too, cause you know it's just two incredibly creative teams that are just trying to make amazing things. There's things in real life that are difficult and there's things in games that are difficult as well. So it's always a bit of a trade off and at the end of the day I'm really confident we have an awesome product."

"One of the things I think Trion is known for very well is the amount of content that we release for games. We're extremely aggressive. And in today's business market it's very tough to stay competitive, but you know, as long as you listen to your player base and really give them what they want, which is tons and tons of content, I think you stand a really good chance."
