Christopher Judge, the actor who played Kratos in the 2018 God of War game and its 2022 sequel God of War: Ragnarök, wants video game writers and developers to get the love and respect they deserve. Speaking at a FanExpo event, Judge said that he's not sure why adaptations aren't hiring people that worked on the original games, especially when a lot of adaptations are looking for something as close to a shot-for-shot remake as possible.
A fan responding to a Dexerto post on X/Twitter went further, saying that while some people will take that statement as Judge saying he wished he could play Kratos again, it's clear he is showing wider support for developers and creators across the games industry. Judge himself chimed in on the social media platform, saying that he just wants to see more respect for game developers in the age of adaptations.
"I was talking more about our writers and devs. I really want them to get the love and respect they deserve. I hope that for all writers and developers of the games that we love. No disrespect to tv and film writers. I had some of the best on Stargate," Judge wrote.
He also acknowledged that he's probably too old to play Kratos in a live-action series right now, but hopes that the people at Amazon find someone as dedicated and as "great" as Ryan Hurst, who is being recast due to suffering an injury.
