Spanish golfer Jon Rahm has won LIV Golf for a third year in a row after the LIV Golf Bedminster, New Jersey, held at the Trump National Golf Club. The event was won by the Chilean Joaquín Niemann (who got to greet Donald Trump after winning with a margin of 3 strokes, but for Rahm, who ended up 41st, it was enough to secure the title, with two events remaining, at Indianapolis on August 23 and at Michigan for the Team Championship.
Rahm, former World No. 1, won the LIV Golf events in Hong Kong and Mexico, and also finished second at his local event in Andalucía in June, as well as in South Africa.
Rahm recently made a deal with the European Tour (DP World Tour, also known as PGA European Tour) to participate in some events at the same time as he participated in the private, rival tour LIV Golf, backed by Saudi Arabia... until now, as the Saudi Public Investment Fund has withdrawn, forcing the organisers to find new investors. For Rahm and other golfers who signed similar deal (which included paying penalties) it was a way of "making peace" with the "official" golf tournament as the future of LIV Golf remains shrouded in uncertainty.
