It was rumoured relatively recently that Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands would soon be getting an update to introduce 4K visuals support and 60 FPS gameplay. It turns out this was only part of what Ubisoft had in store for the game, as a major free update has been detailed and launched that brings a wealth of improvements but also a slate of new content too.
Known as The Last Rites, the update comes to mark 25 years of Ubisoft's Tom Clancy efforts, and it introduces a "brand-new narrative mission, long-requested technical improvements, expanded gameplay customization, and the return of one of Wildlands' most iconic missions."
The new mission sees players taking on La Llorona, a deadly new enemy who leads a frightening cult and is driven by revenge. The new mission promises to "take you through hostile territory as you uncover the truth behind her rise and confront a new threat unlike any you've faced before." As for how you can access this, it can be launched directly from the main menu and you don't need to roll credits on the main campaign to access it.
Otherwise, the 4K/60 FPS support has been introduced, with this landing alongside a slate of other improvements, not least new customisation options in the form of "Ghost Parameters, HUD and Difficulty Options, and World and Session Settings allow you to customize realism, challenge, immersion, interface options, gameplay rules and more, giving you greater control."
The Predator mission is also making a comeback if you never had the chance to test yourself against one of the universe's most lethal and skilled killers. Likewise, some new Operator and Iconic skins are arriving for you to further customise your character.
As a final note, the Definitive Edition of the game is now available too, which includes the base game, all DLC from the Season Pass, Year 2 Pass, Quick Start Pack, and the Deluxe Pack, as well as the aforementioned new cosmetic skins, making this the prime way to experience the game if you're a first-time player.
There are also a slate of bug fixes, which you can see in the thread below.
