Valve has just released a new post on the Steam website that details the updates to SteamVR that landed with version 1.3.2, and we have the following listed under 'General':
"Increase scope of power management disabled by "Disable Power Management" button under developer settings. If you have pressed this button in the past, you may press it again to get the additional effect. Disabling power management may fix issues where tracking is lost a few minutes after starting but recovers after restarting SteamVR. If you experience this problem and the button fixes it, please give us feedback so we know if we should make it the default."
There's also a fix for memory leak in Motion Smoothing when the resolution of an application is changing, but perhaps the most noteworthy point in the patch notes is the following:
"Increase limits of what we thought was humanly possible for controller motion based on tracking data from Beat Saber experts."
What does this mean though? Well, a Valve developer took to the comments to explain:
"The tracking system has internal sanity checks to identify when things go wrong. For example, if our math says you are *behind* your only basestation, clearly we made a mistake, because we wouldn't be getting any signal from behind the basestation. One of these checks relates to how fast we thought it was physically possible for someone to turn their wrist. It turns out that a properly motivated human using a light enough controller could go faster (3600 degrees/sec!) than we thought."
Basically, Valve was forced to update SteamVR after Beat Saber players were moving too fast for the system to cope with, which is understandable considering it's an intense rhythm action VR game that requires you to hit beats in time with the songs.
