At this year's E3 we were able to catch up with The Division 2's game director, Mathias Karlson, to learn more about the game's open world, its signature weapons, the new approach to endgame content, and how it ultimately differs from the original instalment.
Speaking about the title's open world Karlson told us how they've "made the open world in The Division 2 so alive... both enemy factions and the civilians are out there targetting different tactical locations, resources, acting on needs and goals. Which doesn't just generate movement and conflict and emergent things happening, but also of course activity to you, and surprise.
"Like, running around the city is really interesting because you don't know what's going to happen around the next corner, and your actions helping them, you will see that translate into them getting more capable, the civilians of the world, but also their homes, their little fortresses of hope in a way, the settlements, are going to reflect that."
He also mentioned civilians and how "you are going to see them becoming more capable by you helping out."
The Division 2 is set to arrive on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One March 15, 2019. You can watch the full interview below, and keep scrolling down for some of the gameplay that was unveiled this week.
