Super Lucky's Tale is a 3D platformer that was showcased by Xbox at E3 this year, and during our time in Los Angeles we spoke with director Dan Hurd about the game, firstly asking him to give us a summary of what the game is about.

"So Super Lucky's Tale is a wonderful, colourful, delightful, character action-platforming game," he said. "So we wanted to make something that harkens back to the games that we played in our youth that, you just have that moment where you get a new console and you open it up and there's this like mascot character action-platformer you want to play, and Super Lucky's Tale is our version of that for the Xbox One X."

When we asked about the resurgence of 3D platformers with games like Yooka Laylee, here's what Hurd had to say: "We think there is this opportunity to help the resurgence of this type of game right now, because there's not a lot of it, and that's the other thing that really motivated us to make this type of game which was, well, it's been a long time since we've played one, right, and they're not really coming at this rate that we want to. This is a type of game we crave to play, I think, inside as gamers, whether or not we want to admit it, it's just a fun time, and so we had to make it, and this is Super Lucky's Tale and this is how it came out."

Could this be a new hit in terms of 3D platformers?
