Yesterday a picture of Playstation 3 boxes bundled with Resistance 3 surfaced on the Internet, featuring a sticker for something called the "PSN Pass". The speculation at the time was that this was similar to EA's $10 Project, where players who buy a game brand new gets a one-time code that will let them unlock online play - players that buy the game used will then have to purchase that code from the publisher if they want to do the same.

In a statement, Sony have now confirmed that that's the case. "This program will be game-specific. Games that are a part of this program will include a single-use registration code that grants the account holder redeeming the code full online access for that title."

"This is an important initiative as it allows us to accelerate our commitment to enhancing premium online services across our first party game portfolio."

Sony have done similar things in the past for a few of their titles, but we can probably expect this to happen on all their first-party games from Resistance 3 and onwards.
