SanDisk announces new storage options for Xbox Series S/X

They are offering memory cards in three different sizes, ranging from 500 gigabytes to two terabytes.

As this generation of consoles starts to show its age and given the inevitable fact games just seem to keep getting bigger and bigger, it might be time to start upgrading the storage on your Xbox Series S/X. Microsoft's solution using memory cards makes this incredibly easy, but unfortunately, the selection is more limited and often slightly more expensive than for the PlayStation 5 (which supports SSD swapping).

Now, however, SanDisk is offering a new and promising alternative with three new models: 500 gigabytes, one terabyte, and two terabytes. They write:

"With game releases for both AAA titles and indie games happening at a consistent release cadence, your XBOX Series X|S console storage fills up FAST, and once it's full, how do you pick which games to delete? Introducing the SANDISK Optimus GX C50 Storage Expansion Card for XBOX with up to 2TB of capacity you can store your ever-growing library. Upgrade now and get a 1 Month trial of XBOX Game Pass Ultimate inside the box and ensure you're ready to play your XBOX games anywhere. And supercharge your community with one month of Discord Nitro on us.

"Built with a super-speed core that leverages XBOX Velocity Architecture™ to deliver extremely fast, low-latency performance that matches the console's internal SSD, so you can play your AAA games directly off the card. Just plug the SANDISK Optimus C50 Storage Expansion Card for XBOX in - and game on."

SanDisk thus joins Seagate and WD Black, which previously offered similar options, and for those of you who want to upgrade your Xbox storage, it's now easier than ever.

If you want to order a memory card, you can do so through SanDisk's own website, for example, but they haven't been released yet, though that likely won't be long in coming.
