Project Sora is dissolved

Kid Icarus: Uprising studio closes.
Mike Holmes 11 July 2012

Project Sora, the studio established in 2009 by Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai, has been dissolved.

The studio only made one game; Kid Icarus: Uprising for Nintendo's 3DS. Sadly it seems that this was to be the team's solitary release.

The announcement came on the studio's homepage. CVG translated the message as saying: "This company was dissolved on June 30th 2012. We thank you truly for your patronage. This home page will close on July 31st 2012."

Just last month it was announced that Project Sora were working on a new Super Smash Bros. game with Namco Bandai, so Nintendo's decision to close the studio comes as a surprise.
