The 2013 action game Aliens: Colonial Marines did as you might know not live up to anyone's expectations. It had to ship 3 million copies just in order to cover the development costs, but "only" 1.3 million players were interested enough to spend money on it. The Gearbox head Randy Pitchford recently revealed in an argument on Twitter that he (or Gearbox) spent over $10 million on the development on top of publisher Sega's investment. We assume that that money is all gone now, and the only reasonable conclusion to draw from this is that Aliens: Colonial Marines hurt everyone involved in more ways than one.
