PES' Global Product and Brand Manager Adam Bhatti was in attendance at Gamescom in Cologne this year, and while we were having our regular on-camera catch up with him, we asked about the feedback from the beta, and it turns out it's been pretty positive for the team.
"Yeah, it's crazy. I was speaking with the dev team going for a few drinks a few nights ago, and I was asking them so many questions about it as well, and they were like 'yeah, well it better be good', because obviously in terms of costs, you know, double the cost, because I think it's more than twice as good," he said. "But just, you know, when we did the beta, it was a case of being really nervous, so nervous, because we worked so hard on the online code, the actual code to bring everything together. You can have the best servers in the world, and you can run P2P or so, it doesn't really matter, but it's about your code talking well with whatever software, and we rebuilt it. So obviously everyone was confident but also really scared, and thankfully everything flew. There was some issues in the first six days, where people were saying that connection was taking too long."
"I think the huge success of the beta has to be the 3v3, because people got to see it, got to play it, hugely enjoyable, learnt about the systems, but very importantly, it was so positive that we actually brought it into the PES League this year. So we announced that we're doing obviously PES League, 1v1, but we also announced that co-op is going to be a part of it as well, so you and your two friends can create a team and compete for some really big prizes, and that would not have been announced if it wasn't for the success of the beta."
Did you enjoy the 3v3 mode most in the beta?
