Ubisoft won't raise the Standard Edition price for Siege

The company apologises for the inconvenience, and even gives us a skin.

Thanks, PC Gamer.

A few days ago Ubisoft announced that three 'new' editions for Rainbow Six: Siege will be released, and this has created a fierce debate among the players, as the Standard Edition of the game received a significant price increase, going from $40.00 USD to $60.00. This price hike was because this Edition has been turned into an Advanced Edition, which is sold with in-game currency and extra cosmetic content.

However, it seems that Ubisoft has changed their mind on the matter, as we read in a thread on Reddit, as they will keep "the Standard Edition in the store at the current price". Unfortunately, the same doesn't apply to the other two editions, the Gold Edition and the Complete Edition, which will see a price increase respectively of $90 USD (instead of the current $70.00) and $130.00 (instead of the current $90.00). Alongside this news, Ubisoft said they knew that many players were frustrated by the slow pace with which the new operators are unlocked in the Starter Edition (sold for $15.00), and they promised more details about it at the Six Invitational esports tournament in February.

"We recognise that this has been a point of frustration for new players, as well as existing players bringing their friends into the game, and have been working on how to make this process more fluid," Ubisoft said. "We will be sharing more information about our next steps during the Six Invitational [next month]."

To apologise for the inconvenience, the French company has also announced that the Ash Sidewinder Elite skin will be offered for free to all existing players.

What do you think about the whole situation? Why has the price been raised?
