This week, Lord of the Rings fans were given a sudden boost of nostalgia, when they saw the co-op action-RPG War in the North reappear on storefronts, given a much-needed update in its Legacy Edition. This isn't the only Lord of the Rings game that's going to be making its triumphant return like Gandalf at the battle of Helm's Deep.

Developer Aspyr, who was behind the shadow-dropped remaster and is often working on recreations of our favourite gaming classics, confirmed in a press release (via IGN), that more Lord of the Rings classics will be getting remastered. "Fans can look forward to even more classic releases by Aspyr from the beloved franchise in the future!" reads the press release.

There have been loads of Lord of the Rings games over the years, but from reading Steam reviews of War in the North: Legacy Edition, it's clear that there's one title above all that people want to see return, and it's The Lord of the Rings: Conquest, which gives us Battlefront-style action in Tolkien's fantasy epic. Battle for Middle-earth and The Return of the King video game are also high on people's lists for remasters.

Editor UK Alex Hopley covered the video game industry for Gamereactor, from new announcements and launches to the business behind them. He also wrote on tech, film and entertainment, and his coverage wasn't tied to any one region.
