The signing of Rodri Hernández from Manchester City to FC Barcelona is taking longer than some expected. Despite the full agreement between the midfielder and the club, one week after it was reported that Rodri chose Barcelona over Real Madrid, Manchester City is not reducing their sale expectations and have rejected a second bid by Barcelona.
According to Daily Star, Manchester City is asking a fixed fee of £70m, €82 million, but Barcelona does not want to go beyond £55m, €65 million. After an initial offer for €45 million plus add-ons was rejected, a second offer of €55m plus up to 10 million in bonus was launched, but Manchester City also rejected it.
Apparently, the reason behind the large prize is that Manchester City has contacted Chelsea for Enzo Fernández, who would be a replacement for Rodri, but Chelsea does not want to sell the player for less than €140 million, £120 million.
