We grabbed lead writer Brian Kindregan and lead level designer David Adams at BlizzCon for a quick talk about all things Diablo III: Reaper of Souls!
Kindregan felt most excited about the new main villain, Malthael, that Reaper of Souls brings ("A totally different kind of villain for Diablo"), while Adams felt Adventure Mode ("really opens up our end game") was the biggest new feature:
"Before you played through the story and you kind of levelled up that way. But we wanted to open up the world a lot more so now you can basically go anywhere in the game and you can play any of the content any time you want. All the waypoints in the world are open and you can see them on this nice map, you just click on them and you can go to these places. And we've added some features to that to get you to move around the world. We've got these things called Bounties and that sends you on tasks in the world you go and find a specific monster somewhere and you kill that guy and you get a specific treasure for that."
The talk also covered the new Westmarch Hound monster (the one that takes a leak on your corpse after killing you), and lesson learned from Diablo III as well as the nature of Pandemonium.
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls is set to launch on PC, Mac and PlayStation 4 in 2014.
