Insider: Don't expect any Lego Marvel games for a long time

Instead, Warner Bros. is allegedly working on something related to one of their franchises... but it's not Harry Potter.

If we disregard the 2019 Lego Marvel Collection, it's been nearly ten years since the last new Lego adventure based on Marvel, which was 2017's Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2. But after the universally acclaimed and successful Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, one might naturally assume that Marvel was next in line, especially given the success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

But... that doesn't seem to be the case. At least not if we're to believe a source that's usually reliable when it comes to Lego games, namely Lego Games News. They now report that "the 'Lego Marvel Games' series has been put on hold for the unforeseeable future," and go on to state that "it will be a long time before a new game in the series is developed."

Instead, we can look forward to a new Lego title based on "a major Warner Bros IP," which is later confirmed to be something other than Harry Potter, though that would have been an obvious candidate given the new TV series, and it's not Dune either.

DC is a likely contender (why not Superman, who has a new movie coming out next year?), but perhaps it could also be The Lord of the Rings or even Mortal Kombat. Feel free to share in the comments which Warner Bros. franchise you hope will be turned into a Lego game.
