Senior Technical Artist Alexandre Sabourin talks us through what looks like a genuinely scary proposition on PC and PS4 - Outlast.

HQ

"We've been inspired by Amnesia: The Dark Descent. We wanted to bring back the survival horror genre where you have no weapon to fight back. We want a really immersive moment where you will feel more emotions rather than having action scenes happening."

As a journalist you're carrying a camera with night vision mode, you're only window into a very scary asylum:

"From an intern he got some info that there's some crazy thing happening in the asylum. So you just want to investigate this place, but then you find yourself in a very bad position and you just want to get the hell out of this place. But then you get stuck with those crazy patients that are really mad so... I can't go further, because the story is... we want to make it a surprise for the players, so I won't spoil anything."

Outlast is set for release on September 4 (Steam) and will launch early next year on PS4.
