Get drills in Payday 2 without paying

Overkill finds a compromise.
David Caballero Editor-in-Chief Spain 21 October 2015

Thanks, VG247.

The other day it was announced that after years of promising not to do so, Payday 2 is going to feature microtransactions in order to spice up the experience for wealthier players (and, you know, business for the publisher).

This move naturally caused a negative reaction from the community, as the newly-purchasable item, a very special safe-cracking drill, could only be bought using real money.

But this has only lasted for a few days. Now, the developers have taken criticism onboard and have updated the game so the offending item will randomly appear as a bonus reward inside the existing loot system. There's still an advantage for those willing to pay, but at least there's a chance to get the new equipment for free.
