When Funcom launched The Secret World not everything was as peachy as it seemed to outside analysts. The Norwegian developer and publisher has been found to have misrepresented their state of affairs from October 2011 to August 2012. The company today accepted a fine of 1,500,000 NOK (approximately £116,500) from ØKOKRIM (the Norwegian National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime).

The fine seems to be low, but the company has cooperated with ØKOKRIM in its investigation and Funcom is in a difficult economic situation, thus the penalty was adjusted to reflect this.

Funcom are no doubt glad to have this behind them as they prepare to launch their next game, psychological horror game The Park in just a few days.
