Last night Activision revealed the multiplayer component of Call of Duty: Ghosts at an event that was streamed lived (you can catch the full unveiling here. If you don't feel like watching the whole thing, here are some of the highlights.
In a move to equality you will now be able to play as a female soldier. We can just imagine what the reactions from certain parts of the CoD community will be like as they are continously pwned by female soldiers. Surely none of them will resort to offensive language... Regardless of such expected reactions it is nice to see Activision and Infinity Ward making the option available. Much respect.
A new class of weapons called Marksman Rifles - a mix of sniper rifles and assault rifles if you will - was introduced. A new game mode called Cranked - a variation on classic Team Deathmatch with the twist that if you fail to score a kill within a set time limit you explode.
There will be 20 new killstreaks while some old have been improved or tweaked. Lots of work has gone into improving the sound design and animation and you will now be able to shoot while you are making your way across obstacles.
And perhaps most importantly, Riley the dog, is making an appearance in multiplayer in the shape of a Killstreak bonus. Man's best friend can be your best friend in combat warning you of approaching dangers and helping you take down enemies.
Gamereactor has a writer on location in Los Angeles and we will provide you with his impressions very soon. Meanwhile you should also check out this reveal trailer of the Collector's Edition (it's good for a laugh, promise!).
