Fe was originally unveiled at EA Play during E3 2016, headlining the new EA Partners initiative, and it was re-revealed at Gamescom this year. We caught up with Zoink Games' creative director Klaus Lyngeled who felt "overwhelmed" at the response the game got during the event.
We asked him about the genesis of the project, how it came to be that Fe was born.
"Me and Andreas (Beijer, fellow creative director) was working on another game a long time ago and we were just talking about 'what about doing something else?' and he had an idea about doing something really calm. And we started discussing like calm games, what are the calm games out there. And at first it was like, it would be cool to have a game you could play just before you go to bed so you can have nice dreams, you know."
The conversation also touched on the art style as well as the music and sounds of Fe.
At Gamescom, Fe was confirmed for Nintendo Switch in addition to PC, PS4, and Xbox One, something that Lyngeled was thrilled about (Zoink's other current project Flipping Death is also heading to Switch).
"I'm personally really happy about that, it's a nice platform for me," said Lyngeled.
"It feels like the Nintendo fans are always open to indie experiences it feels like it's a very creative console so it's good for a creative game."
Fe is slated for release early in 2018.
