It's already expensive for an Early Access title, with Planetary Annihilation currently on Steam for a not-inconsiderable £29.99 (though some snapped it up in the recent Steam Sale at a much more respectable price, around £10 - but whether discounted Early Access games are a good thing or not is a different discussion entirely).
Now gamers have the added option of picking up the title via their local specialist retailer, with GAME offering the sci-fi themed RTS for £39.99 (or, for those feeling flush, there's a Collector's Edition for £59.99 that comes with "an artbook, Logitech Mouse Gaming Mouse and more").
"At Uber we've been trying really hard to innovate on business models during the entire development of Planetary Annihilation," Uber Entertainment's Jon Mavor said to GameInformer.
"We had planned to do a retail release all along and the early access box came about as part of our experimental attitude. Since early access works so well, our partners at Nordic thought that it would be worth trying an early access retail edition and we agreed it was a cool idea."
Later, when the question of releasing an unfinished game at retail was put to him, Mavor added: "The real question is, why not? After all, they are getting the same game, just earlier. It's a changing world and we hope to continue trying out new and innovative ways to make games."
