Producer Sean Ramjagsingh talked us through the new and returning features that fans can expect to see in NHL 16.
After last year's entry, which was a little light on content following the transition to the current-gen platforms, EA Canada are now working to flesh out the experience this time around.
"For us this year it's about making it fun to play from every single position on the ice. The EA Sports Hockey League is a big mode that we're bringing back this year," Ramjagsingh explained, saying that "it needs to be a fun experience whether you're a goalie or D-man or a forward, that we have really, really balanced gameplay. So being fun to play from every position's a key piece for us this year."
It goes beyond gameplay balance across the whole team, even if finding that balance is a key concern for the developers. The game's producer explained how they're working to make sure that all players are catered for this year.
"Understanding if you're a single-player guy or a GM-type guy or a team play-type guy; that we have something for you with each of our modes. So with our Be A Pro this year, there's a brand new player progression system in the game, so how you play on the ice will shape your character as you grow. In Be A GM, a brand new player morale feature, so you need to manage the morale of your players on the ice."

NHL 16 is heading to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 17.
