EA recently reported on their latest financial numbers (Q2 2008), and with a substantial increase in both revenue and loss (year-over-year) one would think that massive sellers such as Madden NFL 09 (4.5 million copies sold), Spore (nearly 2 million copies sold), Warhammer Online (1.2 million copies sold - 800000 active players) and reported 1.9 million copies sold for Mercenaries 2: World in Flames according to the conference call would be the focus of what EA had to communicate.

But perhaps it was a passing remark that is most interesting as the business will soon see the first sales figures with the full effect of the on going financial crisis evident.

"Considering the slow down at retail we've seen in October, we are cautious in the short term," said John Riccitiello, Chief Executive Officer.

EA has an exciting Q3 of this year to look forward to with the next Need for Speed, Mirror's Edge, Dead Space and FIFA 09 as the big hitters, but if we are to interpret this statement EA aren't expecting bumper sales.
