Cities in Motion 2's chief executive officer Mariina Hallikainen was on hand at Gamescom to tell us more about the public transport simulator.

There Hallikainen told us more about what's new in the transport sim sequel: "We want to really focus on creating a more dynamic experience for the player. We have a really cool new feature which is the Dynamic Cities, so basically all of your choices will affect how the city looks in the end. So building the roads and, depending how successful you are and how competent your transportation network is, you actually attract more people to your city, and they'll build houses and work in places and start living their lives there and you have to cater for their needs."

Players can choose to either micromanage their network, or they can take a general approach: "So basically we are giving options to the player. You can decide to concentrate on light simulation, the kind of things you can construct, your own network and just keep updating the fleet and not go too much into the details, if you choose to."

"But if you really want to take control of the whole situation at the company you can change the timetables and really micromanage, from rush hour to the night time, to the weekends and holidays. And that gives you more power."
