Skylanders is branching out from the world of video games and becoming a show on Netflix called Skylanders Academy. It is launching October 28 and Netflix promises top class voice talents and high production values to do the famous series justice.

The idea is to flesh out the characters beyond grunting and cheesy one-liners to make everyone more relatable. The website describes it as such: "At Skylanders Academy, the greatest young warriors from realms all across Skylands are trained to protect the universe from evil-doers. The newest Skylanders team - Spyro, Stealth Elf and Eruptor - are on high alert to foil Kaos and the Doom Raider' plots to rule the universe! As our tale begins, Master Eon discovers he will need his heroes even more than ever, as a mysterious darkness begins to seep in and destroy the balance of the Skylands!"

Master Eon and Hugo will lead this team of heroes in the series, and the cast will include actors such as Ashley Tisdale, Justin Long and Susan Sarandon. Below is the first trailer for Skylanders Academy. What do you think of the premise?
