There is no stopping Nintendo right now and Wii sold more than any other console during November as it amassed an astounding 2.04 million units according to the official NPD report. The only other platform to approach the Wii numbers was the Nintendo DS with an equally impressive 1.57 million. In the race for third Xbox 360 came out on top with 836,000 seeing a moderate increase in sold units year-over-year. Meanwhile Playstation 3 saw a decrease year-over-year selling less than half the amount on the other HD console also being beaten by the PSP. Both Sony and Microsoft focused their comments on software sales with 360 software sales amounting to $408 million in November and PS3 software sales rising 150% since the start of the year and the Playstation formats amounting $350 million worth of software sales.

Gears of War 2 was the top selling game in November with an impressive 1.56 million with 13 % of the US Xbox 360 owners buying the game in its first month on the market. Activision Blizzard saw impressive numbers from Call of Duty: World at War, eventhough they didn't quite reach the sales of its predecessor Modern Warfare. With the amazing hardware sales of the Wii came equally impressive software sales of the marquee titles Wii Fit and Mario Kart, while Wii Music saw a much improved second month after selling under 100,000 in October. As Left 4 Dead recorded 410,000 units sold on Xbox 360 this month it is safe to say that Valve have another hit franchise to bank on.

Overall the business grew 10% year-over-year to $2.94 billion and so far this year the business has grown a massive 22%.

It should be noted that while NPD Group report PC game sales separately they noted that World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King sold an impressive 1.4 million copies in November.
