Charles Cecil on Broken Sword and adventures

We sit down with the creator of Broken Sword to talk about origins and the resurgence of a genre many felt was dead.

Adventure enthusiast Martin Eiser caught up with Revolution Software's Charles Cecil at Gamescom to discuss the resurgence of the genre and the next Broken Sword title.

"What I wanted to do was write a game that felt totally contemporary, but also felt familiar in that the point-and-click interface was brought forward from before. But now it's in high resolution. Now there's much more animation. Now the frame rate is much, much faster. So it feels much more like an interactive movie in many ways. Or in this case a cartoon. Which ultimately was our vision right from the very beginning."

Cecil details the origins of the first Broken Sword what inspired him back then and perhaps he also drops the notion of having been copied by Dan Brown there somewhere in between lines. The legendary game creator also gave us a glimpse of a goat (longtime fans will get this) and talks about how the Kickstarter fans help make this a better game.
