Main missions in Breakpoint show "small percentage" of island

Faction missions and side content will show you all of what Ghost Recon: Breakpoint has to offer, according to UX director Matthew Tomkinson.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is going to be very much focused on the story involving Cole D. Walker and the Ghosts, but there are also Faction Missions to consider as well, which are side missions that have a variety of objectives for you to discover, with UX director Matthew Tomkinson telling us in the interview below that these are the way to see the game's full potential.

"First thing is that we have much more coordinates, much more objectives that you can choose, so it could be for example to go in a camp and destroy a drone, or it could be looking for some information in a new area. And there are lots of them that will be more different than what we've done previously, but on top of that there are some of them that are also done by hand, that are really with specific stories and cinematics, and those are the ones also that will be renewed through all the what we call episodes, and there's a real storyline with a beginning, with a middle, with an end, that the players will get to unveil for the two different factions."

"It's up to the players to choose whichever mission they want to do. They can do a mission more for the rewards, and look for missions no matter if they are more story-driven. They might want to unfold the story and they can focus on these ones."

"Another thing that we've done which will be very exciting is that the world is gigantic. It's really huge, and what you do when you do all the main missions is only a very small percentage of the island. There's so many places that you don't discover if you just do that."

We also got to talk more specifically about the UI. "Freedom of choice is something that was always important for us," he said, which is why it's now easier to set your own markers and objectives, whether you're going after campaign missions or simply looking for blueprints to improve your weapons. "You can pin up to three objectives at same moment," he adds.
