Charts: US August

Mafia II had a rough time in the States
Bengt Lemne 10 September 2010

The monthly U.S. console charts have been published by the NPD group and the combined sales of hardware and software were down 10 per cent compared to last August. Take Two no doubt had higher hopes for Mafia II, and even if it reached fourth (360) and seventh (PS3) spot on the chart, it didn't sell anywhere near the numbers expected. Madden NFL 11 predictably swept the chart.

On the hardware side of things, Xbox 360 saw its third consecutive month in the number one spot. The new slim model is certainly doing what Microsoft hoped it would.

1. Madden NFL 11 / Xbox 360 / 920,800 copies
