Dead by Daylight hit Steam last year and proved to be very popular, regularly being one of the most viewed games on Twitch and according to SteamSpy, selling over 1.5 million copies. Console players haven't been able to join in on the action, though, but all that is about to change.
At PAX East, we had the pleasure of speaking to two of the people who've been involved with the development of the game.
Amir Listo, global brand director at publisher Starbreeze, said: "It's definitely a no brainer (to bring it to consoles)! The reason we waited is because it's a new IP. When we made Dead by Daylight originally we were like let's try it on PC, let's see how good it does and yeah, it did pretty well."
The game has also seen fairly consistent content updates since launching on PC, with the number of killers available to play having already doubled from three to six. Louis McLean, one of the programmers at Behaviour, confirmed that there will definitely be more coming, although they just can't disclose how many yet. They want to make sure they can get the game out on time and that everything works properly as a priority.
This isn't just a cash grab either. When asked about their plans for the future with {Dead by Daylight}, Louis said: "We [Behaviour Interactive] are going to keep doing this for as long as we can. We love doing it and we love watching people play it. We don't want to stop."
Unfortunately, when asked about a release date for the console version, all they could say is "Soon." As soon as we have a firm date, we'll let you know here on Gamereactor.
