Soma: "It's not all about just jump scares"

Frictional on how they're upping the fear factor.
Mike Holmes 22 July 2015

During E3 this year we had the chance to catch up with Frictional's Aaron Clifford, and there the studio's 3D artist had plenty to tell us about their next game, Soma.

Much like their previous works, Soma is a horror title, but as Clifford explains, the studio are exploring different ways of creeping out their audience.

"With Soma we've gone a bit more deeper, psychological, slow burning, but long-lasting horror," he said. "Horror that hopefully you'll be thinking about and question the morality of your actions in the game. It's not all about just jump scares."

For more on Soma, check out our recent hands-on preview and read why we're looking forward to seeing more of Frictional's sinister underwater world when it lands on PS4 and PC on September 22.
