Runescape and Transformers Universe developers Jagex have announced Block N Load - a first person shooter that also includes an element of construction. The game is planned for release on PC next year with a beta set to start this winter.
"We've been building Block N Load for a while now, and we're immensely excited by how the game is shaping up. Block N Load represents a true departure from the type of games that Jagex is known for; it's not browser-based, it's not free-to-play, and it's not an MMO," said David Solari, VP of Block N Load at Jagex. "We're thrilled to finally announce it to the world, and hope that people enjoy taking part in the upcoming beta. The team is eager to receive feedback and is looking forward to working closely with players to ensure Block N Load is the best game it can possibly be."
The game offers shooter action, along with the creativity of destructible arenas with blocks that offer "mines; force fields; bounce pads; glue tiles; turrets and giant bombs". There are six heroes to pick from in the team-based shooter and heroes include "Cogwheel, an unhinged weapons obsessed robot; O.P Juan Shinobi, a deadly Ninja you won't see coming; or Doctor Eliza Doolally, who shuns ethics in favour of applied chemistry".

Block N Load shares the some of its basic concept with Ace of Spades - a game Jagex took under its wings and revamped for Steam release a couple of years ago, but that has had its development seemingly halted a while back. Therefore it is kind of natural to assume Block N Load is kind of a third iteration of Ace of Spades following the free version and the Steam version.
