Gamereactor's David Moschini caught up with lead game designer Steven Masters to ask him about the nature of the next Assassin's Creed title.
Masters outlined some of the key differences between Connor and Ezio: "Connor's a half Mohawk, half British assassin. He's a little bit more raw than Ezio. Ezio was a very flamboyant Italian aristocrat, and that character didn't really fit for Connor, obviously, because he's more of an outsider."
"He's not really a member of his people, he's not really a member of the European civilisation. So he allows us to give and outsiders perspective on everything that is happening in the American revolution."
It's not just the personality and status of the new protagonist that has changed radically, much work has gone into making sure the characters feel different: "We've spent the last three years rebuilding almost everything, including our core technology, to be able to support the new environment, the character and the setting. There's a total of 5,000 new animations just on the main character. If you lined up all the animation and played it back to back it would take over an hour to view it all."
