Following its very well-received debut earlier this year, it turns out we won't have to wait too long until Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord returns to Disney+ for its second season. Speaking at the panel dedicated to the animated series at D23 recently, head writer and executive producer Matt Michnovetz confirmed when the show will be back and it could be the second major Star Wars show of 2027.
Following the confirmation Ahsoka returning for a second season in January 2027, we now also know Maul - Shadow Lord will be back sometime in 2027. As reported by ScreenRant, Michnovetz encouraged fans to "get ready for it."
As for the exact premiere date, this has yet to be confirmed but in a similar vein to how Marvel Studios operates, Star Wars projects don't tend to overlap. This means if Ahsoka kicks off on January 20 and Star Wars: Starfighter lands in cinemas on May 28, there is perhaps four-to-five weeks of available space to slot Maul - Shadow Lord between the two projects. While that is possible, it's probably safer to assume Maul - Shadow Lord will be back on Disney+ in the summer of 2027 or perhaps even later, as the success of the first season will likely mean Disney will want to give the show a wider and grander showing.
