Insomniac dev reveals impact of the Marvel's Wolverine backlash

From jokes bagging on the modern AAA experience, to bad-faith criticisms about certain characters, Insomniac has had to deal with a lot.

Marvel's Wolverine is still a couple of weeks away from launch, but even before the game is in people's hands, it seems like a lot of gamers online have made their minds up about it. Or, they're more than happy to jump on the bandwagon of criticism towards Insomniac Games and its portrayal of Wolverine.

As jokes around the modern AAA experience (or "focus, M" gameplay) pile up, gamers have also critiqued the portrayal of Logan, Jean Grey, and other X-Men staples in this more linear take on Insomniac's superhero formula. As caught by TheGamer, Insomniac's community and marketing director James Stevenson is reconsidering his philosophy thanks to the X/Twitter algorithm forcing a lot of negativity his way.

"I think the wild way this algorithm amplifies and forces negativity upon you has me reconsidering my philosophy of telling devs to look or post here. It's a relentless onslaught that I cannot believe is good for anyone's mental health nor representative," Stevenson wrote.

As Marvel's Wolverine is also the latest PlayStation exclusive, a lot of people are jumping to hate the game for that, too. Unfortunately, it seems no matter whether the game is good or bad, a certain crowd is latching onto Marvel's Wolverine, and won't let go until we're not talking about the game anymore.
