After years of raking in tens of millions of Phasmophobia players, Kinetic Games recently decided to turn its attention to the world of video game publishing too, creating the label known as Kinetic Publishing. The premise of this company is to spotlight upcoming indie and AA titles and help bring them to the public, and part of this effort includes offering events for fans to get clear information on each of the title's being repped by the company.

The first ever Kinetic Publishing Showcase has now come to a close, and in this event we got to see a handful of games, not least the next project from Sam Barlow, the man behind Immortality and Her Story.

It's known as Precognition and it's being made in collaboration with horror director Brandon Cronenberg. It's a live-action sci-fi horror project that combines FMV sequences and non-linear storytelling with an emphasis on player freedom, and it all revolves around the character of Diana who learns she can receive visions from the future after having an experimental implant embedded into her brain.

Speaking about the project on behalf of Half Mermaid Productions, the developer he co-founded, Barlow explained: "We've really been trying to test the limits of non-linear storytelling, focusing on how the game feels to play, while encouraging player agency and freedom. We've pushed ourselves even harder with Precognition by bringing the feel of investigation and mystery games into a world of cause-and-effect, with a story that spins out as a consequence of your choices."

As for the launch timeline for Precognition, the plan is to bring the game to PC via Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch 2 in spring 2028.
