Star Fox challenger Wild Blue Skies is also coming to Switch

It will be released this autumn, while the title arrives for the other formats this week.

It's hard not to feel a little sympathy for Balor Games (a studio founded by Star Fox veteran Giles Goddard), which announced just over a year ago that it had something exciting in store for Star Fox fans in the form of the spiritual sequel Wild Blue Skies.

But... then Nintendo suddenly got the urge, and after a decade of ignoring fans' wishes for a new Star Fox, they announced and released a remake of Star Fox 64, succinctly called Star Fox, just a month or so ago. This has taken a lot of the hype away from Wild Blue Skies, since fans can once again enjoy the real deal.

Fortunately, though, the game looks really good, and Balor Games clearly believes that even Nintendo fans might be up for some more Star Fox-inspired action. That's why they're now announcing Wild Blue Skies will also be released on Switch.

The game is set to be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X as early as August 13, while a "fully optimized" version is scheduled to launch on Switch "this fall."
