The 2026 European Athletics Championships begin today, Monday, August 10, for an exciting week at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, until Sunday, for 24 events, for men and women, and two mixed events, in which 1645 athletes, 805 females and 840 males, from 49 countries are scheduled to participate.
In fact, five gold medals will be given today Monday in the evening: women's shot put, men's shot put, men's 5,000m, mixed 4 x 400m relay, and women's 100m.
Men's 100m will take place in its entirety on Tuesday August 11, while pole vault, where Duplantis will participate, will be reserved for the final day on Sunday, August 16.
Among the hundreds of athletes, there are several world stars with World Championships, Olympic medals and world record holders like Mondo Duplantis, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Keely Hodgkinson, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Marcell Jacobs, Femke Bol, and Karsen Warholm.
