Square Enix is working on improvements for the "prolonged" loading times of Final Fantasy XIV on Switch 2

A fix is in the pipeline with the problem causing the issue already identified.

Worry no longer, Final Fantasy XIV players on Nintendo Switch 2, Square Enix is hard at work on a fix for the lengthy loading times currently affecting this version of the game. As confirmed in a post on The Lodestone website, the issue has been identified with a solution already being tested, meaning a rollout is likely close at hand.

Square Enix talks about the issue as "prolonged transition screens", and has recognised these appear when teleporting to a different map in an instanced duty, when the screen fades to black during a battle phase transition, when the screen fades the black after being knocked out, and when the screen fades to black after using Return or a shortcut.

The good news is the reason for this problem has been determined to be related to "data reloading and cache clearing processes required for safe rendering are taking an extended amount of time". As this has been identified, the processes have been optimised to "ensure faster data loading even under similar conditions, and the updated version is currently in testing."

Signing off, Square Enix explains: "We are working to release an update as soon as possible to address this and several other issues. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding in the meantime."

It's unclear as to exactly when this fix will be introduced.
