38 million Playstation 3 sold

Sony are turning things around
Bengt Lemne 29 July 2010

Sony have announced the results of their most recent quarter and total Playstation 3 sales are now at 38.1 million units worldwide. The quarter ending with June saw 2.4 million Playstation 3 units find new homes, a marked increase from the same period last year when only 1.1 million units were sold.

With 38.1 million units sold Sony are sniffing Microsoft's butt who are at 41.7 million units sold with Xbox 360. Playstation 2 sits pretty at 146.1 million units, while you might be surprised that the PSP has sold 62.7 million units.

Sony's Playstation division registered a loss of $43 million for the quarter, and marked improvement compared to last year, and it seems that increased revenue from PSN and improved hardware sales and starting to turn things around for Sony.
