The Astronauts has just released a new video showing off some footage from an internal beta of Witchfire, the company's first-person shooter that has been in development since 2015.

This title is a massive step away from what they have done previously, like The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, a story-driven adventure game released in 2014. This game was very well received, but the studio has kept very tight-lipped about Witchfire, releasing mere seconds of footage at a time.

Witchfire is set in a dark fantasy world where witches are real and a threat to you. Playing as a witch hunter, this game will see you take on a variety of these monsters varying in difficulty through a large number of arenas.

The gameplay we have seen in these videos shows the player running through areas slaying monsters with a variety of weapons, and these all seem to be vintage, reminding us a little of Hunt: Showdown.

The game is still without a release date, but we hope to see more information about the game soon, and we will keep you up to date with more information as it becomes available to us.

Will you take up the mantle of witch hunter in this upcoming game?
