Someone just tried to fake an announcement for GTA VI

For the record, no, Rockstar hasn't announced anything.

Some crafty individual(s) has tried to get people excited about the inevitable but certainly off-in-the-distance announcement of Grand Theft Auto VI.

Fans over on Rockstar's official site started sharing reports and pictures of a pop-up message that appeared for some people (but not all) in GTA Online that appeared confirmed Grand Theft Auto VI with a 2019 release date.

Given the planned launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 in October of this year and the fact that there's zero chance that Rockstar would announce a major game in this way, it's pretty straightforward to file this one away under "fake".

However, some fans were convinced by the nature of the pop-up announcement (see the image below - it is kinda genuine-looking) and it's worth adding that only a few people are seeing the message and apparently it's only appearing for users who are playing on platforms that support modding.

Would you fall for this?
