Shinji Mikami joins Bethesda

Zenimax picks up Tango Gameworks
Bengt Lemne 28 October 2010

Shinji Mikami's most recent effort was the extremely intense Vanquish, released earlier this month.

Zenimax Media, owners of publisher Bethesda Softworks and id Software, have acquired Shinji Mikami's (Resident Evil, Vanquish) Tango Gameworks studio.

"It's refreshing to find a publisher who understands, trusts, and supports the development of blockbuster games and works to make it a collaborative effort," said Mikami. "The library of AAA franchise titles ZeniMax owns speaks for itself. We are very excited to be joining ZeniMax and working with a company that is dedicated to creating the best games ever made."

Shinji Mikami most recently worked on Vanquish with his former Capcom colleagues at Platinum Games, and is collaborating on Shadows of the Damned with Suda51's Grasshopper Manufacture. What Tango Gameworks has been working on remains a secret. Mikami will continue to run Tango Gameworks and will take the role as creative lead on all future project according to the press release.

We recently met with Shinji Mikami in Tokyo to discuss Vanquish and you can see the interview below.
